Hello and welcome to my blog. I’m Jonathan Hartmann, the Hospital Informationist who works with the health care professionals at the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
My job is to bring the most recent, evidence-based medical information to the attention of doctors, nurses and others as they care for patients at the hospital. I do this by going on rounds with physicians, conducting research on request, answering questions at the bedside, and incorporating the latest information technology and resources into the patient care environment.
I am a staff member of the Georgetown University medical library, Dahlgren Memorial Library, located on the University campus across from the hospital. Since 2009 I have been using the library’s vast information resources in the medical center, addressing diagnosis questions and researching treatment options at the point of care — the patient’s bedside.
